Our Services
Pediatric Feeding Therapy & Dysphagia Services
At Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing, we specialize in comprehensive pediatric feeding evaluations and therapies to support children with feeding difficulties, swallowing disorders, and developmental delays. Our goal is to provide specialized, family-centered care for infants and children across all stages of feeding development.
Feeding / Dysphagia Evaluation and Treatment
Our pediatric feeding therapy begins with a detailed evaluation of your infant or child’s feeding and swallowing abilities. We assess medical history, family impact, and feeding-related stress in a welcoming, home-like environment.
We evaluate:
-
Oral motor and sensory function
-
Muscle tone, respiration, and phonation
-
Ribcage development and movement
-
Signs of lip/tongue tie, reflux, or allergies
-
Behavioral components affecting feeding
We also assess swallowing safety to identify risks like aspiration, obstruction, or choking, which can cause coughing, congestion, or pneumonia. This forms the foundation for a personalized feeding therapy plan.
Oropharyngeal Motility Study (Modified Barium Swallow Study)
The Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBS), or Oral Pharyngeal Motility Study (OPMS), is the gold standard in swallowing evaluations. This videofluoroscopic study provides detailed imaging of your child’s oral, pharyngeal, and upper esophageal anatomy during feeding.
Children swallow foods and liquids mixed with barium, allowing us to observe their swallowing function in real-time. The results guide your child’s personalized therapy plan to ensure safe, efficient feeding.
We are proud to be Florida’s only freestanding pediatric feeding institute offering in-house expertise to interpret these specialized studies.
Myofunctional Therapy
Our pediatric feeding specialists provide myofunctional therapy to correct improper oral muscle function. This therapy strengthens the tongue, lips, jaw, and other facial muscles—improving breathing, eating, and speaking.
Benefits include:
-
Pre- and post-op support for lip and tongue tie release
-
Oral muscle training and range-of-motion exercises
-
Improved oral postures and feeding function
This is a core component of pediatric feeding therapy techniques for long-term improvement.
Myofacial Release Therapy
Myofascial release therapy targets restrictions in muscle and connective tissue to promote functional movement and strength. It supports swallowing, speech, and feeding by improving muscular coordination.
We incorporate myofascial release into:
-
Dysphagia and feeding therapy
-
Speech-language therapy
-
Oral myofunctional therapy
Speech and Language Evaluation and Treatment
Many children with feeding disorders also experience speech and language delays. Our integrated services address both challenges simultaneously—helping children reach communication and developmental milestones faster.
We assess and treat:
-
Receptive and expressive language skills
-
Articulation and sound production
-
Feeding-related communication challenges
Combining feeding and speech therapy leads to more effective and convenient outcomes for families.
eSwallow Therapeutic Intervention
eSwallow is an innovative FDA-cleared therapy using neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to treat dysphagia. This non-invasive therapy retrains the muscles responsible for swallowing.
How eSwallow helps:
-
Strengthens swallow and speech muscles
-
Improves swallowing efficiency and safety
-
Enhances circulation and maintains range of motion
Only certified professionals can administer eSwallow therapy, ensuring the highest standard of care.
